Young people are our future and deserve to grow up in a place where they feel safe and protected and where they can grow and flourish. Youth work is critical to ensuring that young people have the best opportunities to achieve their potential. It enables young people to succeed by providing high quality informal education opportunities to promote their personal and social development. It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
The Office of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC) is looking for a talented and experienced and qualified Targeted Youth Worker who is passionate about supporting young people to become confident, informed and empowered. Also to be proud of who they are as unique individuals.
We are expanding fast and the demand for our work is ever increasing, and we aim to meet the needs of young people across Northamptonshire. We have some amazing partnership developed and some fantastic opportunities in being trained and developed within a nurtured professional environment. Therefore, we are seeking an amazing person who is self-motivated, passionate and whose actions speak louder than their words to join our new Service and help us move things forward.
As a proud service who strives in developing evidence-based practice, we’re committed to building long standing relationships of trust with and between young people; creating spaces that foster inclusion, informed decision making, equity and self- belonging. Our service is based upon Anti-Oppressive Thinking and Practice. Our holistic approach incorporates therapeutic ways of working with young people.
The priority for the Youth Service is targeted prevention and early intervention to ensure that young people get the help they need early and to reduce the necessity for higher cost specialist intervention. Our purpose is to have a positive impact on young people’s development and transition to adulthood; improving their life chances through accessible services for all whilst targeting the most vulnerable
You will be part of a team delivering across the county and focus of your work will be with vulnerable and at-risk groups to engage young people with preventative programmes, support personal development and learning, reduce school exclusions and harm, risk and exploitation.
You will have the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and partners, to respond flexibly to their needs and to the priorities of the Service. You will need to be a good communicator and advocate of young people.
For questions regarding the service and role, please contact Targeted Youth Service Manager Zeeshan Khan on 07973 881714
