RECRUITING A CHIEF CONSTABLE FOR Northamptonshire Police

 

We are looking for the right person to lead Northamptonshire Police into the future.
Our vision is for a safe county, where we deliver an outstanding policing service that puts the public first in support of stronger, safer, more sustainable communities.

 

Northamptonshire Police has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Now we need a Chief Constable to lead police officers and staff towards excellence, showing great values and the highest standards of integrity that earn the trust and confidence of the people we serve.

You will be passionate about making a difference to the communities of Northamptonshire and share our ambition of making Northamptonshire Police the best service it can be.

 

The successful person will be working with Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone to deliver her ambitious public safety plan for Northamptonshire.

 

You will understand the importance of working effectively with partners and engaging stakeholders in the mission to fight crime and protect people. You will understand how to support your workforce to be their best, will improve performance and make sure the Force reaches its potential.

 

All this will be driven by your strong values of honesty and integrity: we want a leader who lives out the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, putting public service at the heart of everything they do, so that they can lead the work to rebuild trust and confidence in Northamptonshire Police.

Starting salary from £176,000, plus vehicle. Relocation package available.

Minimum statement of expectation is applied to ensure a return on investment in terms of training and development of Officers and to control and plan for Officer turnover in core and specialist roles. Flexible working

Recruitment and Selection Policy

Internal applicants who are at risk of redundancy or in need of redeployment and pass the selection process, will be offered the role over the remaining internal and external applicants.

Internal applicants must have line manager support prior to proceeding with an application.

Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers.  Although Police internal vacancies are open to OPFCC staff and vice versa, if you are successful, the change of employer will require a longer onboarding process and you will receive a new contract and payroll number.  Service with either employer can be carried over as continuous service.

Police Barred and Advisory lists

Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the Police and OPFCC for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
